Canon PIXMA MG6840 Printer Reviews– The Canon Pixma MG6840 Wireless Inkjet All-in-a ($149.99) highest selling point is a high-quality photo output with fast photo printing. If you need an inkjet multifunction printer (MFP) for home use, this will make it an open candidate. The MG6840 is the next step in Canon’s photo inkjet MFP product lineup from Canon’s Canon Photocopier MFPs and is the budget MFP that editors choose for home use. Not surprisingly, he shares most of the same features and adds a few more, although not enough to justify the higher price.

The main differences between the two are the memory card slots in MG6840, a slightly higher rate and a 3-inch touchscreen instead of a button-controlled 2.5 inch LCD. However, the speed difference is so low that the number of pages per minute (ppm) is the same after the round, although the MG6840 tests are slightly faster than the Canon MG5720.

As with Canon MG5720, Canon offers two more models that say it is the same as MG6840 except for color. MG6840 available in black or white, Canon MG6821 is black and silver, while Canon MG6822 is white and silver. All comments in this review also apply to three models in all four color options.

The basic MFP features for MG6840 are limited to printing, scanning, and copying, and there are memory card slots that allow you to print from memory cards but do not allow you to scan. No USB type A port; This means that you can’t print from a USB key or connect a PictBridge camera with a USB cable. However, the printer supports the Wireless PictBridge, which Canon says is available on all new camera models that offer Wi-Fi. It is not available on other manufacturers ‘ cameras.

Like the Canon MG5720, MG6840 also supports mobile web printing and scanning, as well as the ability to print from selected websites. You can connect to your network via the printer’s Wi-Fi and print and scan from an access point on your network from IOS, Android, and Windows phones and tablets. Assuming your network is connected to the Internet, you can also print from the cloud, and if you download the Canon Print app to your phone or tablet, select the app on certain websites and cloud storage sites, including Dropbox, You can use them to give commands. , Google Drive, Facebook, Twitter and more-to send print jobs directly from these sites to the printer.

If you choose to connect to a single computer with a USB cable instead of connecting to a network, you lose the ability to print over the cloud or print directly from Web sites. However, using Canon’s equivalent Wi-Fi direct equivalent to print and scan, you’ll be able to connect directly to the printer from mobile devices.

The paper capacity is disappointing for the price, but it is enough for most personal use with a single tray that can hold only 100 pages of plain paper. A welcome is an extra automatic duplexer. The use of paper for scanning is limited to placing pages manually on a letter-sized flatbed.

MG6840, 14 pounds and 5.9 x 18 x 14.6 inches (hwd), the location is easy to find. Setup is the standard fee, except for software installation. Although you could install drivers and other software from the disc that came with your printer, the Getting Started guide will instead send everything to Canon’s website for you to download. The guide mentions the disc, but the layout makes it easier to miss this information.

The download of the software allows you to install the latest versions. However, it can take a long time in an annoying way. After watching the download window, I insisted that 30 minutes would be done in just six minutes, so I went to do something else. And note that this is a broadband connection with a promised 75 Mbps download speed. Fortunately, you only need to do this once-or at least once for every computer you press.

The print speed for MG6840 is considered to be the best, but not impressively defined. In our business applications group, I have occasionally timed out at insufficient 2.6 ppm (using Qualitylogic’s hardware and software for scheduling). This is connected with the Canon MG5720 and is the editor’s choice for home, the main inkjet MFP, the Canon Pixma MX922 Wireless Office All-in-one printer (2.4 ppm) to make it a faster touch. However, it is much slower than Brother MFC-J870DW, our choice of general-purpose office-centric MFP for home, SOHO or dual-purpose use (4.7 ppm).

Photo speed, average 52 seconds for 4 x 6 inch printing, much faster than competition. This makes it the fastest in the group, although it is only a few seconds. For the other three printers, the speed ranges from 54 seconds to 1 minute to 5 seconds per photo.

With high quality for photos, the output quality is generally the same. Black and white prints have a slight tint in some lighting conditions, but color photos are at the top of the inkjet MFPs; This ensures better quality than the pressures you can get from most pharmacies.

Both text and graphics printouts are typical for inkjet. Unless you have an unusual need for small font sizes, this means that it is good enough for virtually any business use. The graphics output is easily good for PowerPoint handouts and similar. Most of the printouts in our tests were even better to be given to a customer you want to impress with a sense of professionalism. However, part of the full-page graphics was not exactly that level.

If you need an Ethernet, fax, or automatic document feeder (ADF) to scan for multi-page documents, consider Canon MX922 or Brother MFC-J870DW. If you do not need to print from these office-centric features or memory cards, the Canon MG5720 has the same features as the Canon Pixma MG6840 wireless Inkjet All-in-one, but the same feature MG6840 ‘s memory Cards.
